
Ryne Sandberg, newly elected to the MLB Hall of Fame, and probably the best 2nd baseman the Cubs have ever had, had his number retired today at Wrigley Field.
After giving his acceptance speech, Ryne and his wife walked the perimeter of the field thanking the Cubs fans for their support all these many years. It was neat to watch.
Coincidently, the Cubs are almost out of first place by 23 games. Sort of a bittersweet day. But there's always next year...(y'know, I'm tired of saying that.)

Well, Ryne did get to at least see a good Cubs victory. 14-3 with two homers by Derreck Lee.
